A complete line for edible oil in PET bottles
At its facility in Olomouc, Czechia’s biggest producer and bottler of edible oils has commissioned a Contiform S8 blow-moulding machine. The preforms are fed into the line from the preform store by a loading system, and passed to the blow-moulding machine. the Contiform S8 utilises all its eight moulds for producing the smaller 900-ml and 1-l bottles, but only four cavities for the 2.0-l bottles, so as to match its output to the filler’s speed. The blow-moulding machine produces a total of five different bottle shapes, a 900-ml bottle, three 1,000-ml models, and a 2,000-ml bottle.
According to Bottling Production Manager Roman Kawij, changeovers are unproblematical. Replacing the cavities is a rather simple job. With the same bottle size, it takes no more than two hours. Changing over to the 2-litre bottle takes about twice the time. Nevertheless, the firm naturally tries to optimise the bottling schedule and to reduce changeovers to two or three times a week.
In the past, Setuza was not able to blow-mould the 2-litre bottles themselves, they had to outsource them. Now everything can be produced in-house. And now, significantly less energy for blow-moulding the bottles is needed than before. There is another cost saving, too: the preform’s weight for the 1-litre bottle used to be 26.5 g, whereas the Contiform manages with 20 g per preform. A truly weighty savings potential.
