Labelling technology for spirits: maximised performance guaranteed
Beam Global Wine & Spirits has put its trust in Krones when it comes to the labelling technology for its spirits. For repositioning its Canadian Club bottle with a new design, the labelling technology involved also had to be modified: at the Topmatic cold-glue labeller, a photo-electronic bottle orientation feature was integrated into the labeller, which at a speed of 24,000 bph positions the spirits containers to perfection. The Topmatic labeller is able to handle any conceivable type of label.
The Topmatic has three labelling stations for front, neck and back labels and handles 12 different bottle sizes (most of them glass) at speeds of up to 24,000 bottles an hour. The bottles are oriented in a non-contact process using a raised “glass bead” in the bottle’s shoulder area.
The upmarket spirits bottles require maximised precision from the labelling technology involved. Accurate orientation of the contoured bottles for perfect positioning of the label, gentle transfer of the sumptuously printed label and precise positioning of the label are the keywords that at Beam Global Wine & Spirits, too, determine the requirement profile for the labeller. “We ask more from our machines than anyone else”, remarks packaging engineer Richard Land, who is responsible for choosing the labelling technology at this world-renowned spirits conglomerate.
