Weighing fillers to suit the specific requirements of the dairy industry
Weighing fillers are the filling technology favoured by milk and dairy producers, for the technical reason of filling accuracy also with products that exhibit some foaming when they are being filled.
Krones supplies the Sensometic VPGW weighing filler in six different pitch diameters from 1,440 mm to 3,600 mm with 16 to 110 filling valves. It handles glass bottles with conventional bottle transport. A neck-handling variant can be provided as well. The non-contact filling function creates a stable jet with minimised foaming. The filling valve operates with a metal bellows or a diaphragm valve in order to avoid dynamic seals.
The filler can be BLOC-synchronised with a Variojet three-channel rinser, which treats the bottles with the jetting mode, using two media simultaneously to rinse the bottle. The discharge chutes, the splash guards and their fastenings to the rinser meet all the requirements of hygienic design. The rinser-filler-BLOC is covered with a clean room roof through which HEPA-filtered air of a defined quality is introduced in laminar flow.
The dairy industry demands the "dry floor" concept. The filler must not leak product residues or milk/water mixtures whatsoever to the floor. This is prevented by the sloping filler table top in the field-proven gable-type table-top design, from which any residual liquid flows off automatically. To avoid the liquid being discharged to the floor, the entire filler and the rinser, as well as the front table, are surrounded by a collecting channel. From there, the liquid is discharged through a central drain.
